How to Link Aadhaar Card with PAN Card Online or Using SMS / PAN Name Correction

The government extended the deadline of linking PAN Card with Aadhaar Card by to 31st March 2021. If you do not link your PAN Card with your Aadhaar Card then your PAN Card will become inoperative from 1st April 2021. 

You will not be able to use your PAN to conduct the financial transactions wherever quoting of PAN is mandatory.

If you have to carry out a banking transaction above Rs 50,000, you have to get your PAN and Aadhar linked.

How to Link Aadhaar Card with PAN Card Online

Visit the website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and click on Link Aadhaar or else visit www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in you will be displayed a window as below.

Enter your PAN Number

Enter your Aadhaar Number

Enter your Name as per Aadhaar

Tick on " I have only year of birth in Aadhaar Card" incase only year of birth is mentioned in your Aadhaar Card

Tick on ‘I agree to validate my Aadhaar details with UIDAI’

Enter Captcha code as per image shown

Click on "Link Aadhaar"

A Confirmation box will be displayed showing that you had successfully linked your Aadhaar with PAN. 

How to Link Aadhaar with PAN using SMS

For linking your Aadhaar to PAN you need to send an SMS as per below format

UIDPAN<12 Digit Aadhaar> <10 Digit PAN>

Send the above message to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number.

For example, if your Aadhaar number is 123456789123 and your PAN is ABCDA1234Q, you have to type UIDPAN 123456789123 ABCDA1234Q and send the message to 567678 or 56161

Visit www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS

Enter PAN

Enter Aadhaar Number

Click on "View Link Aadhaar Status"

Correction in your PAN with Aadhar Card

Linking Aadhaar with PAN is only possible if the Name in the Aadhaar Card and PAN Card is matching. If there is any Spelling mistake or any part missing it should be corrected before linking Aadhaar with PAN.

If there is any correction in Aadhaar Card you can make changes by visiting a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and if there is any correction in the PAN you can make the correction by visiting the NDSL Website. 

Select Changes or Correction in existing PAN data/Reprint of PAN Card (No changes in Existing PAN Data) from the drop down menu in Application Type. 

Select Individual under Category.

Fill all the fields in Application Information. 

Click on Submit and make the Payment and your updated PAN Card will be send to your address provided.
