Station Ticket Booking Agent Apply / Commission / Selection | Last date 26th October 2022

Applications were invited for the Post of Railway Ticket Booking Agent at Unreserved Ticketing System in various Railway Stations under Palakkad division. There are vacancies in 16 Railway Stations. Selected person will get commission as per the Number of Tickets Sold.

There are 3 Non Suburban Groups (NSGs) which is divided based on the Revenue as per Sales of Tickets. 

Railway Station under NSGs

NSG 4: Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyanur, Kuttipuram & Ottappalam

NSG 5: Pattambi, Parapanangadi, Kannapuram & Vaniyambalam

NSG 6: Elattur, Kottikulam, Valapattanam, Kadalundi, Kannur South, Kallayi & Tikkoti

Period of Contract:

NSG 4: 1 Year

NSG 5 and 6: 3 Years

Eligibility: 

Passed in SSLC / Class X

Should be a resident of the Local District in which the station is located where STBA is proposed to be appointed

Applicant should not be under 18 years of age

Do not have any Criminal case (The selected applicant will have to produce original certificate from Police station 

serving his/her locality that he/she has no criminal record or criminal case is pending against him/her.)

STBA and his/her nominated agent should not be ex-Railway staff who has been removed or dismissed from service on the grounds of doubtful integrity. 

Remuneration:

Commission will be paid on net sales and in case of concessional tickets, it shall be on the actual fare collected by the Railways. The commission will be calculated on monthly sales turnover. 

Slab 1 

Monthly Sales Turn over: Rs. 1 -  Rs. 20,000 

Monthly Commission percentage ( Payable on sales turnover): 25% (subject to min Rs 2500/-)    

Slab 2 

Monthly Sales Turn over: Rs. 20,001 - Rs. 1,00,000 

Monthly Commission percentage ( Payable on sales turnover): 15% 

Slab 3 

Monthly Sales Turn over: Rs. - > 100000  

Monthly Commission percentage ( Payable on sales turnover):( 4% in case of NSG-6 / NSG-5 category stations and 2% in case of NSG-4 category stations) or the rate quoted whichever is lower. 

Security Deposit

Selected STBA have to deposit / pay a refundable security deposit at the station concerned before taking over as STBA 

i)  Rs 50,000 for NSG-4 Category stations  

ii) Rs 25,000 for NSG-5 category stations   

iii) Rs 10,000 for NSG-6 category stations  

Selection:

Eligible candidate who opts for the least commission (on slab 3) on monthly sales turnover will be selected for appointment. Where more than one applicant quotes the same rate then the selection will be done by draw of lots.  

Working Procedure:

Hardware and software (including maintenance) cost, electricity and hiring of channel will be borne by the Railways. The space will also be provided to them by Railways free of cost.

The STBA will deposit the cash collected through sale of tickets, to Station Master / Assistant Station Master on duty on 8 hourly basis prevalent on Indian Railways  at 6 AM, 2 PM & 10 PM

STBA may nominate another person per counter to work in the counter with the prior approval of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Palakkad. 

Both STBA and the additional person nominated by him to sell tickets shall be issued a photo identity card and there names will also be displayed on a notice board at the station premises. 

STBA will be authorized to issue cash tickets only. The STBA operator shall be allowed to sell all types of non-concessional unreserved tickets issued through UTS 

including platform tickets and season tickets. Renewal of season ticket shall also be permitted. STBA can however issue Sr. Citizen concessional tickets. All other 

concessional tickets requiring documentary proof before issue of tickets can be issued by STBA only when endorsed and permitted by the Station Master / Assistant Station Master (SM/ASM) concerned.  

Cancellation of ticket: The facility of cancellation of ticket will be available to STBA only when authorized / endorsed by concerned SM / ASM.  

Period of Contract. 

NSG 4: 1 Year

NSG 5 and 6: 3 Years

Termination of Contract 

Each side can terminate the contract without assigning reasons by giving a notice of 30(thirty) days. However in case of fraud /criminal case, Railway will be at liberty to terminate the contract without giving any notice.  

How to Apply:

Applications should be submitted in the prescribed Station Ticket Booking Agent Tender form

Last date for applying 26th October 2022 till 12 Noon

Application Fees: Rs. 1120

Filled Application along with Passport size Color Photo, Demand Draft for Application Fees and EMD (Demand draft for Rs. 1120/- in favor of Senior Divisional Finance Manager, Palghat Division, Southern Railway,  Palakkad-2) (The EMD can be paid by cash to Senior Divisional Cashier (Pay), Divisional cash office, Southern Railway, Palakkad), Divisional Cash Office, Southern Railway, Palakkad), Gazetted attested copies of Residence Certificate, Certificate for proving Age, SSLC Mark List need to be put in a cover and firmly pasted. 

The cover should be mentioned as “Application for appointment as STBA at ---------------- Station ”. The cover should be addressed to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Railway Divisional Office, Commercial Branch, Southern Railway, Palakkad -678002. 

Earnest money deposit (EMD) 

i) Rs. 10,000/- for NSG-4 Category stations ( Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyanur, Kuttipuram &  Ottappalam )  

ii) Rs 5000/- for NSG-5 category stations ( Pattambi, Parapanangadi, Kannapuram & Vaniyambalam)  

iii)  Rs 2000/- for NSG-6 Category stations (Elattur, Kottikulam, Valapattanam, Kadalundi, Kannur South, Kallayi & Tikkoti)  

1) STBA are appointed on commission basis at stations to issue UTS tickets. 

2) STBA will function from the existing UTS Counter available at the station. 

STBA operator shall be allowed to issue all types of non-concessional unreserved tickets including platform tickets, season tickets on cash basis only. However renewal of season tickets and issue of Senior Citizen concession tickets shall be permitted. All other concessional tickets requiring documentary proof before issue of ticket, can also be issued by STBA only when endorsed and permitted by the Station Master concerned.  

Facility of Non-Issue / Cancellation of ticket will be permitted only if authorized by Station Master concerned.
