How to Apply for a Fastag / Recharge Online?

FASTag is a sticker or a tag usually pasted on the windscreen of the car. Fastag uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to communicate with a scanner installed at toll plazas. Once the car crosses the toll plaza the requisite toll amount is automatically deducted from a bank account or a prepaid walled linked to the FASTag. FASTag is valid for five years from the date on which it was issued.

One can buy FASTag from a toll plaza. Fastag is available online on Amazon, Paytm, Snapdeal, etc. You can apply for a Fastag at points of sale locations set up by 23 banks like Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, City Union Bank, EQUITAS Small Finance Bank, Federal Bank, Fino Payments Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDFC Bank, Indusind Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Nagpur Nagarik Sahakari Bank Ltd., PayTM Payments Bank Ltd., Punjab & Maharashtra Co-op Bank, Punjab National Bank, Saraswat Bank, South Indian Bank, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank, Yes Bank, etc. Road Transport Authority offices also sell Fastags.

How to Apply for Fastag?

Vehicle owners can go to any of the Point of the Sale (POS) locations at toll plazas / above listed banks to create their FASTag accounts or Fastag can be applied online. Airtel Payments Bank customers can purchase Fastag directly from the payments app on their phone.

Documents Required

Registration certificate (RC) of the vehicle, 

Passport size photo of the owner, 

KYC documents according to the category of the vehicle owner (individual/corporate), 

Identification document (PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card) 

Aadhar Card with the address.

Recharge Fastag

To recharge your FASTag, you can pay through Credit Card / Debit Card / NEFT / RTGS / Net Banking or via online payment apps like Google Pay, Paytm, Airtel Payments Bank, and PhonePe.

Recharge done to Fastag issued by any Bank can be only used on Toll Plaza But in Airtel Payment Bank and Paytm the amount will be deducted in the Tollplaza from the Wallet balance and this wallet amount also can be used for other purposes. For eg: If your Airtel Payment Bank has Rs. 500 you can use this amount in Toll Plaza or can be used to Recharge Mobile, Bill payment, Online purchases, etc.
